How to Identify the Last Date of Academically Related Activity in Brightspace
The Financial Aid office is required to report the last date of the academically related activity for students who were withdrawn from courses. When a student has been withdrawn from your D2L Brightspace course, you need to follow specific instructions to identify the last date of participation.
These steps are for Brightspace only. If any of your course activities happen outside of Brightspace (i.e., textbook publisher site), you will need to contact the textbook’s technical support to find out how to identify the last date of the academically related activity for a withdrawn student.
How to Identify the Last Date of Academically-Related Activity in Brightspace
Step 1: Press Course Tools on the NavBar and select Classlist.
Step 2: On the Classlist page, press Enrollment Statistics to see a list of students who withdrew from your course.
Step 3: Scroll down to the Withdrawals section. Select the dropdown menu next to the student’s name and select View Grades.
Step 4: Identify the last submission from the student. It can be an assignment, a quiz, a discussion, or other assessment.
Find the submission date for an Assignment:
- Click on Assignments on the NavBar. Look for the title of the assignment. In this example, we are looking for Module 8 Journal.
- Press the dropdown menu on the assignment title and press Submission Log.
- Find the student’s name in the list. You may need to move through the pages at the bottom of the table or select the option to view more submissions per page.
- Once you find the student’s name, find the column that says Event and look for Submitted. The date in that row would be the last day of participation.
Find the submission date for a Quiz:
- Click on Quizzes on the NavBar. Look for the title of the quiz. In this example, we are looking for the Module 4 Quiz.
- Press the dropdown menu on the quiz title and press Attempts Logs.
- Find the student’s name in the list. You may need to move through the pages at the bottom of the table or select the option to view more submissions per page.
- Once you find the student’s name, find the column that says Event and look for Quiz Completion. The date in that row would be the last day of participation.
Find the submission date for a Discussion:
- Click on Discussions on the NavBar. Look for the title of the Discussion Topic. In this example, we are looking for Module 5 Extra Credit.
- Press the dropdown menu on the discussion title and press View Topic in Grid View.
- Look through the Authored By column to identify all the posts the student made on the topic. In the Date column, the most recent timestamp would be the last day of participation.
