Copying Courses from Master Courses to Live Courses
These instructions are for D2L Brightspace administrators only.
Create a New Master Course
1. From the Admin Tools menu, click Course Management.
2. Click Create a New Course Offering or Template.
3. Select Create a new course offering based on an existing template. Select the SMC Online Template from the drop-down list.
4. Click Next.
5. Follow the name mechanisms:
Under Course Offering Name, use the following format: Course Title Master Course (e.g., ENGL 101 Master Course)
Under Course Offering Code, use the following format: master_coursetitle (e.g., master_engl101)
Under Semester, select Masters from the dropdown menu.
6. Click Next.
7. Verify information. Click Create.
8. Make sure to mark the course as inactive under Course Management.
When creating new master courses, you don't need to apply the course template. Instead, you will copy over a developmental course. Applying the course template will result in duplication and you will need to do a course reset.
Change the HTML Templates
To allow instructors access to the HTML file templates, you need to change the Content settings.
1. Go to Content and press Settings at the top of the page.
2. Under the Template Path option under Content Authoring, press the Change Path button.
3. Click on Shared Files.
4. Under HTML-Template-Library, select the folder HTML-Template-SMC-Online.
5. Press Select Path then press Save.
