How to Hide Grade Items
Occasionally, you may want to create a grade item that you may not want students to see. This could be for a pop-quiz or an advance extra credit assignment.
To hide a grade item or category from students:
- Click “Grades” from the blue Nav bar.
2. Click “Manage Grades” from the Gradebook tab.
3. Select the down arrow next to the item or category and click “Hide from users.”
Note: This will hide the item(s) or category from STUDENT view. However, the item will still appear in your gradebook. To hide the items from YOUR view, see the instructions below:
To Hide Items from the Instructor View:
Occasionally there may be items that you do not want to view from your gradebook. This could be because the item was a mistake or one that you’ve decided not to use for a semester.
Remember, hiding the grade item from YOUR gradebook, only makes it invisible to YOU, not to the student. To make a grade item “disappear” for both you and the students without deleting it, you must also hide it from the student view.
To Hide a Grade Item or Category from an Instructor’s view:
- Click “Grades” from the blue Nav bar.
2. Make sure your gradebook is on “Enter Grades”
3. At the top of the screen choose “More Actions”
4. Click the down arrow and choose Hide/Show Columns
5. DE-select any item you no longer wish to see. (Any items which are checked will be displayed).
6. Then click “save”. You should now see a warning at the top of your screen which indicates that some items are hidden.
7. To unhide, go back to the More actions menu and then select the grade item.
